Diane Fischer, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who has practiced for ten years in medical and psychiatric inpatient settings within the Henry Ford Health System, the Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University. Dr. Fischer has expertise in trauma and health psychology, and has worked extensively with patients suffering posttraumatic stress, grief and loss, adjustment to acute and chronic physical illnesses, and women’s health issues. Dr. Fischer has also practiced psychodynamically oriented psychotherapy in outpatient settings with individuals suffering anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and disorders associated with self-esteem. In addition to looking at the role of the mind in general health and well-being, she is interested in helping patients to discover and work through the unconscious patterns of behavior that interfere with normal daily functioning.
Dr. Fischer obtained her doctorate at the University of Detroit Mercy. She recently completed Advanced Training in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, where she is currently in advanced psychoanalytic training.
